Old Business:

  • SFSC Update and Report
    • o Tony Powell reported that the SFSC core value report has been shared with various commissions throughout the parish
    • o December will include a discussion of core values as an example exercise
    • o Discussion around the document Andi Tilman supplied regarding Trinity’s Recommendations for Conflict Addendum
  • Vestry elections – report from elections committee
    • o Vestry elections will be on Sunday November 19th, 2017
    • o Nominees are Matt Swendiman, Lisa Edwards, Gina Russ, Shannon Gemeinhardt, Brandon Gabbard, and Nancy Grayson
  • Stewardship update
    • o Peter reported on 81 giving units to date

New Business:

  • Report on Staffing for growth
    • o Report attached
    • o Forecast for the end of 2017 for a 3-4% increase in envelope income
    • o If giving increases at a rate of 13% (forecast for 2018 is >11%) annually, the budget will be at break even in 2021 and our total debt will be $370,000
    • o Analysis from Tony Milburn and Matt Swendiman see an increase in giving as a positive outlook for continued growth
    • o Staffing for growth is a plan the vestry is committed to, and will incur the debts as outlined in the attached report
  • Discussion of BOR Trustees appointments
    • o Tony Milburn reports that Peggy Johnson and Robert Edwards are ending their terms as Trustees of the Book of Remembrance
      • Peggy and Robert would like to stand for re-election
      • The Book of Remembrance is putting forth to the vestry their recommendations for a vote in December 2017
    • Hilda Weaver discernment committee
      • o Discernment committee has resolved to nominate Hilda Weaver to Ordination as Deacon
        • Motion to approve the resolution from the discernment committee endorsing the nomination to the Bishop of the Diocese of Lexington for Hilda Weaver to be ordained as Deacon in the Episcopal Church
        • Second: Tony Milburn
        • Motion carried unanimously
      • Physical Resources report from Tony Powell
        • o Introduction of the idea for a Physical Resource Wish list
        • o Bid from Durable Slate to repair the leak in roof above the arch in the Octagon area
          • $27,450 is the total bid amount from Durable Slate
          • Katie Davidson moves to temporarily move $15,000 from the Eleanor Clarke fund for immediate use, using the remainder of funds from the Gate project in parking lot, and borrow up to $10,000 from the line of credit to fund the Slate Roof repair in the Octagon.  Acknowledging that the continued improvement plan for the hallway and communications station will be funded at a later date from parish giving.
