Vestry Members Present:

Adoption of Minutes from December

  • Motion: Chris Kelley
    • Motion to accept the October minutes as amended
  • Motion carried 

Adoption of  Consent Agenda 

  • Motion: Brandon Gabbard
  • Motion carried 

Old Business:

  • 2ndReview of 2019 proposed operating budget.Discussion points / questions for sharing with the parish in January 2019. (Gary Gabbard)
  • Gary presented up to date numbers through the end of September 2018
  • All current numbers trend to the outcome of coming close to hitting on/or around the Budgeted number
  • Chris Kelley and Matt Swendiman will present the Budget Hearing on January 20, 2018
  • Documents will be provided to the Vestry for review in December
  • Income diversification status discussion (Brandon)
    • Suggests incorporating the Vestry’s current strategy for growth and increased income strategies, in the Budget Hearing presentation
      • Many ideas have been circulated and are being researched as it relates to a Capital Campaign, and as stand-alone options
        • i.e. Planned Giving, Grants, Solar Power panels, etc. 
      • Nancy Grayson will present to the Vestry on January 14thabout creating a fund for gifts outside of parishioners and/or in conjunction with community sources, etc.
    • Capital Campaign (Peter)
      • Three phases of the Capital Campaign 
        • Information Phase is first – January – March 2019
          • Gathering and Giving information
        • Feasibility Study is the 2ndphase that we’re contracted with Andi Tillman to conduct
      • Brandon Moves for Peter to sign the contract with Andi Tillman to commit Trinity Church to the first two phases of the Capital Campaign

      • Vestry will bring ideas for a “wish list” for a Capital Campaign to the next Vestry Meeting in December
    • Vestry and Convention Election Update (Electing Committee)
      • Four new Vestry members and a full slate of Diocesan Convention Delegates
      • Vestry needs to appoint a member for a 2-year term
        • Discussion ensued
      • Bonnie Lucas gift designation 

New Business:

  • Vestry Greeters (Justin)
    • Looking to have two greeters every Sunday operating at both doors, before and after the service
      • One Greeter will do the announcement
      • Justin and the Evangelism Committee would like to establish an “opt-out” option for those that might not like to be a Greeter, or might not be regularly available
      • Justin will send out an email to the Vestry at large and, current Greeters, to give the option for people to “opt-out”
    • Writing Thank yous for Bonnie Lucas Memorial Gifts (Peter)
    • Forming a Parish Council (Peter)
      • A committee to meet three times a year to organize dates and times of events throughout the year
        • Mainly compiled of people that act as chair persons or liaisons to committees
      • Appointment to the BOR (Peter)
        • Tony Milburn is ending his term on the Book of Remembrance, and will be running again for a three year term. 
        • The Vestry will vote on his new term in December
      • Rev. Peter D’Angio thanks the Vestry for their donation to the St. James School
      • Brandon Gabbard – Parlor Stained Glass Window
        • Brandon moves that $1000 be used from the Hunt Bell, Chimes, Window Fund.The funds will be used to clean, seal and re-glaze the stained-glass window in the parlor.  The old protective glass will also be removed and not replaced.

      • Brandon Gabbard also received 2 quotes to repair the arch work in the Sanctuary
        • Discussion ensued and the work will begin as soon as possible
