Trinity Outreach Commission Minutes,

Tuesday, May 22, 2018

7:00PM

The fifth Trinity Outreach Commission Meeting of 2018 took place on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in the classroom at the top of the stairs. Those in attendance were: Greg Gemeinhardt, Joe O’Brochta, Robert Edwards, Steve DeWitt, Marsha DeWitt and Robb Dorward.

Greg opened the meeting in prayer.

New Business:

Giving Tree – Steve DeWitt started the discussion of the Trinity Giving Tree by letting the Commission members know that the tree has been positioned in the tiled area of the church next to the name tag table. Since the tree is in place, the Commission discussed next steps on filling the tree with tags which will have the needs to be filled. Robb suggested that there should be a log out sheet that Parishioners would enter their name next to the item taken so they were accountable. There was further discussion that the tag should have items numbered, color coded by the organization it will benefit, the item and any necessary details for purchase as well as a date the item or service must be completed or turned in at Trinity. Steve mentioned that he purchased glue dots which allow the tags to affix to the tree without damaging the tag or the tree. It was decided that initially the tags would contain items requested by Lincoln Grant Scholar House, Emergency Cold Shelter and Welcome House. Future tags will benefit other supported organizations as well as contain volunteer opportunities. It was also decided that a Commission member should be present by the tree following the service to answer any questions Parishioners may have surrounding the items or the process. Robb agreed to put article in This Week at Trinity. Joe agreed he will make the giving cards and sign-up sheet.

Freestore Foodbank Hunger Walk – Greg recapped Sally Davidson announcing at the service last Sunday that St. Paul’s was challenging all the Parish’s in the Diocese to raise the most money for the walk per capita.

Garden Mart/Sprouts & StoutsGreg told the Commission that the festival is estimating they raised $3-4,000 to benefit the Organizations they put in their Press Release which Trinity Outreach supports.

Lincoln Grant Scholar House – Steve reported that he and Marsha are still in conversation with LGSH and are arranging to provide the refrigerator. Marsha told the Commission that Jessica’s kids want to attend Vacation Bible School.

Operation Warm – Jason sent flyer to Outreach about the program. The program provides coats for children. The Commission decided they will look at this again in the future to decide if it conflicts with other coat drives we already sponsor.

NKY Forum Event – “Affordable Housing: How are we doing?” The forum will be held on June 12 @ 7Pm at Lincoln Grant Scholar House.

Existing Business:

Strengthening Families – Marsha said she will be attending their meeting next week.

Door Ministry – Marsha said she delivered about 110 bags to Holmes HS and will be delivering bags for the last time next week before the Summer break.

Saturday Community Dinner – The Commission discussed whether to combine with serving at the Emergency Cold Shelter during the summer as we did last year. The next date is June 16. Joe said he will check with Janet and send an email if it is determined feasible.

Next Meeting:

The next Outreach Commission meeting will be held July 10, 2018.

Respectfully Submitted,

Robb Dorward
