The sixth Trinity Outreach Commission Meeting of 2018 took place on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 in the classroom at the top of the stairs. Those in attendance were: Greg Gemeinhardt, Joe O’Brochta, Robert Edwards, Darry Rhine, Janet Robinson, Ted Bell, Peter D’Angio, Christi Bailey, Diane Gabbard, Marsha DeWitt and Robb Dorward.

Greg opened the meeting in prayer.

New Business:

CHNK: Greg reported that it is Christmas in July. Items are needed to benefit Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky. The items are on tags that are hanging on the small Christmas tree in the tiled area of the church and due back by Aug 1st.

Giving Tree: Almost all of the requested items from the first round were purchased and brought to church. The second round of tags are up and will be watched while the CHNK tree is up.

Daughters Of the King Plaque – Robert brought in a rendering for the plaque. The plaque will have individual plates containing the names of the members of the Daughters. The Commission asked Robert to proceed with getting a price for the plaque before any decision would be made on its purchase.

Little Library Update – Greg reported that he had a conversation with Chris Kelley on the progress on the Little Library. Chris told him that he and Brandon will work on where the Little Library will go and ordering an iron post for it. Chris’ next step will be to engage the EYC to be involved with the creation of the Little Library. Once completed, the Outreach Commission will be the stewards and maintain the Little Library.

Lincoln Grant Scholar House – Marsha reported that she emailed Shelley again on whether they had selected a refrigerator for their common room and has not heard back. She said a decision was to have been made 2 weeks ago. Marsha will follow up again.

Master Provisions – Peter introduced to the Commission information on an organization known as Master Provisions which is the Northern Kentucky version of the FreeStore FoodBank. He said the organization needs volunteers. He suggested Joe contact Roger Babik, President, to come to Outreach to speak to the Commission to provide more information. He said there are lots of opportunities. We can provide interested volunteers with the opportunities so they can go direct to Master Provisions for assignments. The organization is located in Florence on Industrial Blvd.

Book Reading- Diane Gabbard reported to the Commission that when she was in Kanuga, she was introduced to a book called Toxic Charity. She suggested the Commission purchase a few copies and pass around because the books offers new insight to charitable giving. The Commission agreed it was a good idea.

Existing Business:

Giving Tree Deliveries- Marsha and Steve delivered the items collected for Lincoln Grant Scholar House and Emergency Shelter.

Door Ministry – Marsha reported that she has delivered 60 bags due to demand. She told the Commission she has started putting 2 juice boxes in each bag for hydration. Peter suggested when the weather gets cooler and if the courtyard is done, we invite community members to come to Trinity to assemble food bags for the ministry. He suggested the Communications Commission establish a relationship with the Enquirer for better advertising.

Emergency Shelter – Trinity is signed up for serving dinner on Saturday July 21st. Janet Robinson reported she has several volunteers available to serve that evening. The next available date is Saturday, August 18th. Trinity will play it by ear after it is known if there are enough volunteers for both Community Dinner and the Emergency Shelter.

Peru – Marsha has a flyer (one pager) from Peru that she will put on the bulletin board.

Chimes Article – Greg will place an article in the August Chimes about the Little Library and preparing the congregation to begin saving books for it.

Next Meeting – Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 7:00PM in the classroom at the top of the steps.

Respectfully Submitted,

Robb Dorward
