The first meeting of 2018 for the Trinity Outreach Commission will be this Tuesday, 1/23, at 7pm in the classroom at the top of the stairs. All are welcome to attend and support the ministry of service throughout our community.
As many of you know, during Christmas week I had a basal skin cell cancer removed from my face; this type of cancer is typically confined and is eminently treatable. Reconstructive surgery followed on the first Wednesday in January. I had some complications that resulted in a second round of reconstructive surgery a couple of days later.
All this means that my recuperation will be prolonged. The staff, Wardens and I are working together to ensure that both day-to-day operations and long-term projects move forward as I step away for a time. At present I anticipate a period of complete rest, then a period of working from home, and finally returning to church. I cannot lay out an exact timetable other than we are talking weeks rather than days.
I greatly appreciate all your best wishes and expressions of concern. At present, it is best to contact me by postal mail. All cards and letters can be sent via Trinity (16 East 4th Street, Covington, KY 41011). I will keep you updated as my condition improves.
In the meantime, I ask for your patience and prayers.
The vestry decided in our last meeting to hold a special meeting in Febraury to review and pass the 2018 budget. This meeting will take place on Monday February 5th at 6:30 in the upstairs meeting room. As with all vestry meetings, all in the parish are invited to attend. This special meeting focused on the budget will allow the vestry to focus on vestry formation and strategic topics in the vestry retreat, which is taking place the following weekend on February 10th, immediately before the annual parish meeting on February 11th.
