A Midday Musical Menu on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 12:15 p.m. features the world premiere of a song cycle by Michael Sitton performed by Elise Hyder, Mezzo-Soprano, and John Deaver, Pianist. Songs of Awakening was commissioned in honor of Peter D’Angio and the people of Trinity Church, Covington for Elise Hyder to sing. The poetry is by George Lisi (1952-2014) from Barre, Vermont, where Michael Sitton now lives after retiring as Dean of the Crane School of Music at SUNY, Potsdam. The program also includes two spirituals, a song by the famous French music teacher Nadia Boulanger (Aaron Copland was the first of many Americans to study with her), songs from musical theater and film, and Danny Boy to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
