Midday Musical Menu!!

The next Midday Musical Menu luncheon is this Wednesday, March 16 at 12:15 p.m., and features Elise Hyder, Mezzo-Soprano, and John Deaver, Pianist, in a program of music by Florence Price, Nadia Boulanger, Michael Sitton, and Stephen Sondheim.  Florence Beatrice Price was an African-American classical composer, pianist, organist and music teacher, born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1887, educated at the New England Conservatory of Music, who was active in Chicago from 1927 until her death in 1953. The premiere of Michael Sitton’s “Songs of Awakening” occurred virtually last March.  Commissioned by John Deaver, the song cycle on texts by Barre, Vermont poet George Lisi will be given its first in person performance.  To end the program are three songs of Stephen Sondheim (1930-2021): Send in the Clowns (from A Little Night Music), No One Is Alone (from Into the Woods), and Being Alive (from Company).  As always, the concert will be livestreamed and available later.

Lunch will be served in the May Room from 11:30 a.m. for $7.00.
