The next concert on Wednesday, November 17 at 12:15 p.m. features Ellen Stephens, cellist, and Lana Smith, pianist, in music of Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn. The concert will also be live streamed. Lunch is available in the May Room from 11:30 a.m. for $7.00.
Ellen C. Stephens received her Bachelor of Music in cello performance from the Middle Tennessee State University and her Master of Music in cello performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She currently is the Educational Director at the Immanuel School of Music in Lakeside Park and conducts the award winning Youth String Orchestra, and Youth Sinfonia. Stephens also leads outreach string programs in the local elementary schools for Northern Kentucky. An active soloist and chamber musician, Stephens performs in the tri-state area several times a year with the South Bank Quartet and the Rookwood Trio.
Lana Smith is an active piano teacher, soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist, having taught and performed locally in the Tri-state area as well as in Russia and Europe. She has received various prizes and scholarships, including International Piano Competition in Warsaw, International Chamber Music Competition in Prague, and European Summer Academy in Salzburg. Ms. Smith obtained her Master’s degree from the University of Oregon and graduated with honors from the Belarusian State Conservatory and the Gnessin State Musical College (Moscow, Russia). Besides teaching piano and music theory at Immanuel School of Music, she is currently teaching classes at the University of Cincinnati.
