Outreach Response: COVID-19

I wanted to provide an update on the response from the Outreach Committee regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.  As we all are individually, Outreach is making adjustments for the new “normal” that we will be living with in the near term.  We will continue with our monthly commitment to feed the hungry through Saturday Community Dinners, though with a skeletal crew (compliantly) preparing bag meals to hand out through First Christian Church.  We will also continue our door ministry at Trinity by making available food bags either in the fountain courtyard or at the church entrance door on an honor system.  These measures will continue as long as the restrictions are in place regarding group congregation and social distancing.

In addition, we have begun to reach out individually to partner organizations in the community to make sure they understand that Trinity is here for them, now and going forward.  We will be working to help address immediate needs as best we can during this time.  While the short-term effects are impacting all of us tangibly, the long-term effects could be profound and providing direct support to those in need will be more critical than ever.  We, as a church body, will have no better opportunity to advocate for and ensure the proper use of all resources available to meet the needs of our people and community.

To help in communicating volunteer and donation opportunities that we are aware of in our community, we have created a special page on the Trinity site called COVID-19 Community Support. You can click on the link or navigate to it under Ministries > Outreach > COVID-19 Community Support. Please continue to check this page as we will update information on a continual basis.
