Message from the Bishop: Jan. 24
Dear Trinity Church,
This week, we want to share a pastoral message from our Bishop, Mark Van Koevering, who reflected on Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde's recent homily. Her message, rooted in the Gospel, calls for unity and mercy in a time of deep polarization.
Bishop Mark shared these words:
“I support Bishop Budde’s gospel message of unity at a time when our nation continues to be so deeply polarized. Her heartfelt appeal to President Trump to show mercy toward the stranger and the vulnerable is not partisan politics, but the genuine witness of a pastor for her people. Our people. The people.”
This resonates deeply with the promises we make in our Baptismal Covenant:
"Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?"
"We will, with God’s help."
Let us take this reminder into our hearts as we strive to live out these commitments in our own lives.
If you haven’t yet, we encourage you to watch Bishop Budde’s homily here.
The Lord be with you.
