Trinity Movie Group: Apr. 20

Trinity will show The Philadelphia Eleven, a feature-length documentary, on Saturday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the May Room. Mary Ann Weiss will lead the discussion. Pizza will be served at 6 p.m.

The Philadelphia Eleven presents the compelling story of a group of women and their supporters who challenged the church patriarchy by organizing their ordination to become Episcopal priests in 1974. The Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia welcomes them, but change does not come easy. The women are harassed, threatened, and banned from stepping on church property; yet their actions paved the way for the acceptance of women priests by the Episcopal church two years later, in 1976.
