Adult Formation

Trinity Formation Hour

11:15 AM - 12:15 PM

Immediately following the 10:00 AM service on Sundays, Trinity’s Formation Hour begins. Every Sunday during this time, children and teens will gather with their cohorts to build relationships with one another and with adult leaders while learning the stories of our faith. At the same time, adults will gather in the May Room. The monthly rhythm of our Formation Hour will be:

  • First Sunday of the Month — Coffee Hour. Enjoy coffee and conversation with parishioners, church staff, and our rector, the Rev. Brad Gough.

  • Second Sunday — Soup or Salad Sunday. Join us for lunch including soups and salads of all kinds. If you feel so called, bring a soup or salad to share!

  • Third Sunday — TED (Trinity Enlightened Discussions). Join us as a community member offers a presentation about a specific topic. Topics include everything from things going on at church, to happenings throughout Covington and Northern Kentucky.

  • Fourth Sunday — Rector’s Forum. The Rev. Brad Gough will teach on some aspect of liturgy, theology, or faith, with plenty of time for questions.

  • Fifth Sunday — During months where there is a fifth Sunday we will hold an additional Rector’s Forum.

Our hope is that many of our Sunday morning guests will begin with worship and end with formation — as a participant, or by signing up to lead a TED talk or volunteer with our children’s and youth offerings. At Trinity, we know that relationships get built when we laugh and eat together, but they also get strengthened when we learn together. Please reach out to Meg Koehl if you feel the urge to be part of leading that learning for our adults, youth, or kids.

Sunday Morning Book Study

Periodically, small book group discussions happen on Sunday morning. Currently, we’re reading:

9 AM - Reading the Bible Again for the First Time by Marcus Borg - led by Jason Leo

11:20 AM - Discernment by Henri Nouen - led by Hume Jamison, Hilda Weaver, and Brian Level

Lunch and Learn

This group meets the 2nd and 4th Fridays in the fall for discussions over a light lunch of a variety of topics like our historic Roebling Bridge, the Central Riverfont development across Madison Avenue, or how to listen to music. Contact Meg Koehl for more information.
