Apr. 15: Midday Musical Menu

Our next luncheon concert on Wednesday, April 15 at 12:15 p.m. features an ensemble assembled by James Lambert, former Associate Principal Double Bassist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Jim is a CCM graduate and retired in 2023 from the CSO after 36 years. This concert will feature Divertimento in D Major by Johann Michael Haydn (1737-1806), Joseph Haydn’s talented younger brother. The divertimento is a kind of string quartet which employs double bass or violone in place of the cello, unique to the Viennese classical repertoire. Joining Jim are violinists Dorothy Han and Lindsey Tootle and violist Elena Kraineva, all playing instruments modeled on those used in the 18th century. Divertimentos, sometimes called serenades, or cassations are light music that served as entertainment, frequently outdoors. Lunch is available in the May Room from 11:30 a.m. for $7.00.
