Diocesan Listening Session: May 15

An Update from the Standing Committee

Dear Diocesan Members, Clergy and Leaders,

As you likely know by now, Bishop Mark announced his retirement on October 7, 2024.

We’re seeing signs of renewal, growth, and fresh energy in our Diocese.  Much of this renewal has come through strong and faithful leadership, and we want to thank you—leaders from across our diocese—and Bishop Mark, whose wisdom and steady hand have guided us into this season. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and care.

In response to a clear call from leaders at our pre-convention hearings in October, the Standing Committee, in conversation with Bishop Mark, has entered a season of reflection and discernment. Many across the diocese have asked to explore creative collaborations and new models of leadership that are taking shape across the Episcopal Church as we seek to call a bishop.

Please RSVP below to attend a Listening Session.

Please RSVP here.

Listening Session Dates:

What to Expect

Members of the Standing Committee will provide a 20-minute overview of the transition process and helpful information about the Diocese. We will then spend the remainder of the time in group discussion reviewing a set list of questions intended to gather your insights and feedback that will help inform the process. While the specific questions are more nuanced, the overarching goal of the meeting is to reflect on: Where do we want to build capacity for ministry? and What is God calling us to do? There will also be plenty of time allocated for general Q&A so that you can ask your questions to the Standing Committee and each other.

How You Can Prepare

Please visit the DioLex Transition page, subscribe and read LINK (the diocese's bi-monthly newsletter), and watch your church bulletin for frequent updates.

God is always at work, doing a new thing among us. Let’s step forward together with hope, faith, and joy. Thank you for your prayers, your presence, and your love for this diocese. We’re excited for the journey ahead!

Standing Committee Members
Carol Wade, Jeff Queen, Colleen Bivens, Sarah Razor; and Sherilyn Pearce
