Blessings of the Heart with Elise & Audrey - Mar. 15

Elise Hyder and Audrey Causilla invite you to Blessings of the Heart on Wednesday, March 15 at 11:15am, a concert celebrating life’s joys and sorrows through poetry and song. Selections range from spirituals, art song, musical theater and opera, and include composers Brahms, Amy Beach, John Duke, Margaret Bonds, Saint-Saens, Richard Rodgers, and Cincinnati composer Greg Reedy. Poetry featured in song include poems by Emily Dickinson, e.e. cummings, Robert Browning, Hart, a child imprisoned in a concentration camp, and others. It is our hope that our concert opens your heart to beauty and shines a light on what it means to be alive.

The concert is free and will take place in the historic and beautiful Trinity Episcopal Church. Come early for lunch at 11:30, cost is $7. Can’t make it in person? Join live online at https://youtube.com/@TrinityChurchCovKY

“Heh, try to open up your heart / To beauty; go to the woods someday / And weave a wreath of memory there. / Then if the tears obscure your way / You’ll know how wonderful it is to be alive.” – Birdsong, poem written by a child in Terenzstadt Concentration Camp, set to music by Greg Reedy.
