Organ’s 30th Anniversary: Nov. 18

Fall Organ Festival: 30th Anniversary of Trinity’s Wilhelm Organ

The second recital of the Fall Organ Festival is on Monday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. and features Trinity’s organist John Deaver playing Olivier Messiaen’s Les Corps Glorieux, a work complete in 1939 and published in 1942, but not performed until November 15, 1943.  The work is subtitled “Seven Short Visions of the Life of the Resurrected.” Messiaen is described as a Christian mystic.  This set of pieces is one of his most mystical compositions vividly describing the life of the resurrected (life after death).  The next to last movement, heard as the postlude to Evensong, captures the joy of the resurrected life: Joie et clarté des Corps glorieux.

Gifts to the Music Fund to help defray expenses of the series are much appreciated.
