Sept. 16: Midday Musical Menu
Our luncheon concert series begins its 46th season on Wednesday, September 16 at 12:15 with pianist Jiao Sun playing a varied program of Rameau, Beethoven, and Robert Schumann. Lunch is available for $8.00 in the May Room from 11:30 a.m. with the free concert following in the church. We welcome Dr. Sun back to Trinity!
Jiao Sun is an internationally acclaimed pianist, collaborative artist, pedagogue, and conductor praised for her “expressive range and stunning technique” by WXXI Classical and WFMT Chicago, and for “the perfect ambassador for classical music, who has all the skills needed for a successful career as a performing artist" by New York Concert Review. Born in Harbin, China, Dr. Sun demonstrated extraordinary musical talent from an early age. At nine, she was admitted on full scholarship to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing after placing first in its highly competitive entrance examination. She made her orchestral debut as a soloist at the age of eleven, marking the beginning of a distinguished performance trajectory. Jiao holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance and an Artist Diploma with Soyeon Kate Lee from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she also minored in piano pedagogy with Michelle Conda. Sun gained a Master of Music degree in piano performance and literature and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance, both at the Eastman School of Music. From 2021-2024, Dr. Sun served as a piano faculty member and collaborative artist-in-residence at the Ohio University School of Music. She currently maintains a private studio in central Ohio, teaches at Graves Piano & Organ Co. in Columbus, and serves as pianist for two churches in Lancaster, Ohio.
