Return Advent Greens: Jan. 6

Please return Advent Wreath Greens and materials, or bring any Christmas Greens, on Saturday, January 6 for our “Burning of the Greens” ceremony during the Epiphany party from 6-8pm.

“The Burning of the Greens” is a custom from the Middle Ages where all of the greenery that was used to decorate the church was taken out of the church and was then blessed and set on fire as a symbol of the light and warmth of Christ shining in the darkness of our lives in this darkest of all seasons and often one of the coldest nights of the year.
