Adoption of May 2020 Minutes:

Moved: Jean Brann, Betty Mitchell(2nd)  Motion carried

Old Business:

  • Financial Update / Building Repairs Update (Josh Mitchell and Peter D’Angio) (with reduced expenses the church is a good position to possibly start paying off the debt. See below for explanations especially under the category “Personnel / Other Finances”. However, this will also depend on the fall stewardship campaign.)

    • PLEDGING AND PLATE

      • Giving and general pledging is flat due to suspension of church worship services and some parishioners who have lost their jobs. The church is receiving about 36% of income we usually receive.

    • COMMISSION UPDATING

      • The Financial Commission will continue discussions with the other commissions regarding their budgets. The Finance Commission will also ask for fiscal year to date actual vs. fiscal year to date a year ago

    • PERSONNEL / OTHER FINANCES (includes reductions in the budget)

      • Continuation of our current “hybrid” setup for covering the Family Ministry position and the Associate Rector

      • In the Choir, possibly reducing the lead soprano’s pay

      • Bids for up to $13,000 for the roof repair

      • An anonymous donor will pay for the organ repair (removed from budget line under physical resources)

      • Still paying the babysitters and could use PPP to cover these employees

      • For the Nurture Commission there is no coffee ministry

    • PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM

      • Trinity received the USBank paycheck protection program with a total of $63, 976.25. 60% of this money allocated must be used for employee payroll with a 24 week disbursement period (approx. $2600 a week). The other 40% can be used for Buildings and Grounds, including possibly approx. $5,000 for new lighting. Josh Mitchell discussed this in reference to apportionment we owe to the Diocese every year

Discussion and document

Motion: none

This was not a motion to approve, just a discussion

New Business:

  • Vestry book discussion “Strategic Leadership for a Change” and Trinity Listening Discussions

    • The group discussion began with acknowledging the difficulty of unwanted change

    • Leaders must assist members in understanding this change and find a good way to process the information or guidelines given to the Vestry by the Bishop

    • The group discussed the worries of losing members

    • We need a communications strategy. Right now it is important to inform parishioners about the next steps to having worship services and meetings, COVID guidelines, and establishment of a worship service committee

    • Peter proposed forming this committee to move forward in establishing a worship service outside and to follow the guidelines given by the Bishop. The committee will consist of some vestry members including Joe Creaghead, Jim Swearingen and staff member John Deaver

    • Can we meet at the church for meetings as long as Trinity follows the Bishop’s guidelines? This was a proposal to find ways to get people back to the church

    • Trinity Listening Sessions – Andi of TriUnity Consulting will help Trinity in creating small group listening sessions. Some questions that parishioners will be asked will be sent electronically or mailed. If not, they are encouraged to attend a listening session.  The Caring Circle leaders may also assist in this process. These are the three probable questions that may be asked:

      • What do you miss most about Trinity?

      • What do you need now and how do we take Trinity to the next level?]

      • What does the future of Trinity look like to you?
